Wildfire Gymnastics concluded its 2016 compulsory competitive season on November 18th at the Level 3, 4 and 5 SoCal South Section State Championships. This culminating event was held at the San Diego Town and Country Hotel & Resort. All together, 717 gymnasts participated, they representing some 33 teams.

By weekend’s finish, as part of those 717 gymnasts competing, 2 Wildfire gymnasts found themselves accounting for two of the top 6 highest All Around scores of the meet; they being, Kaitlyn Tran who produced the 2nd highest score of that group of 717, and Addie Anderson, she posting the 6th. Together, Wildfire athletes accumulated 50 top three awards, Gold, Silver and Bronze. Twenty of them were Gold. This great effort brought about, from among 33 teams representing Levels 3, 4 and 5, State Team Championship top three finishes, achieving 2nd place rankings for Levels 3 and 4 accompanied by one 3rd for Level 5.

Wildfire’s Level 3 Team, since 2013, has a State Championship record that reads 3 wins, 1 second. This year the Level 3 competition consisted of 341 individual participants in all. Singularly, three Wildfire athletes posted scores that places them among the top six scoring gymnasts inside that roster of 341. The number four highest scoring gymnasts of the Level 3 competition, which includes every age division, was Wildfire’s 10 year old All Around Champion, Makena Jarrett (38.700, 1st Vault - 9.700, 1st Beam - 9.600, 1st Floor).
