Wildfire Gymnastics completed its third of four pre championship meets for compulsory season 2017 on the weekend of October 10th at the Broadway Gymnastics School, in Los Angeles. The competition involved in total, 366 gymnasts and by meet’s end, Wildfire placed 11 athletes among the top 12 of that group of 366. Encompassing every level, the first 6 of that lot of 12 were Skyler Cazale, Katie Bieger, Erin Chen, Kaytie Dobbert Madson, Ava-Malani Franco and Dayenu Munoz. Wildfire presented 62 entrants, 49 of them emerging as top 6 All Around finishers. Thirty one of them were awarded either Gold, Silver or Bronze. Sweeping the team results, Wildfire teams Level 3, 4 and 5 each won their respective Team Championship. This brings our team pre championship season record to, so far, 8 wins and one 2nd place finish.

Sixteen Wildfire Level 5 gymnasts competed as part of the Level 5 meet roster count of 71. Six Wildfire gymnasts advanced to rank as the top six scoring athletes of that number of 71. Sixteen Wildfire Level 5 gymnasts earned 42 top 3 awards, 21 of these being Gold. All Around Champion and highest scoring Level 5 of the weekend, including all age groups was Dayenu Munoz (38.225, 1st Vault - 9.600, 1st Bars - 9.650 and 1st Floor - 9.550). Following just behind Dayenu in age group was AA Silver Medalist Alexa Alcantar, and by her additionally winning Beam, puts together an AA and individual event Wildfire sweep between the two athletes. Another sweep was single handily achieved by All Around and four event winner Addie Anderson. And too, posting an All Around win was 11 year old Presley Wickman (37.600, 1st Vault - 9.700). Outstanding personal and individual event Gold Medal performances include those by 8 - 9 year old AA Silver Medalist , Arianna Espinoza (1st Bars - 9.550 and Floor - 9.600), 14 + age group All Around Runner Up, Ailani Tran and her 1st place finish on Vault, Molly Osborne (1st Vault - 9.625), Amelia Wagner (1st Vault - 9.600) and Thi Nguyen (1st Floor - 9.675, 1st Beam - 9.775!). Also of note is that the top Level 5 event winners of the competition accounting for all age groups and sessions includes Wildfire’s Presley Wickman (Vault) and Thi Nguyen (Beam).

Sixteen Wildfire Level 4 gymnasts participated in the Olympic Dream Classic, this among the 109 Level 4’s participating. Five Wildfire gymnasts emerged as the top five scoring athletes of that number of 109. The same 16 Wildfire Level 4 gymnasts earned 38 top 3 awards, 13 of these being Gold. All Around Gold medalist and the highest scoring Level 4 of the meet, including all ages and sessions was 10 year old Erin Chen (38.300, 1st Beam - 9.750, 1st Floor - 9.600). Following right behind Erin was 10 year old Silver Medalist Sara McLaughlin (38.025, 1st Bars - 9.675, 1st Floor - 9.600). Following next were two 11 year olds, they being 1st place All Around finisher Gillian Burrows (37.900, 1st Vault - 9.700, 1st Bars - 9.525) and All Around runner up Makena Jarrett (37.750, 1st Floor - 9.575). And 5th ranked among the 109 Level 4 entrants, was 7-8 year old All Around Champion Kherrington McGinley (37.725), she posting a 9.550 for a win on Vault as well. Supplementing these choice efforts with their own championship victories were Kristina Newton, 12 + AA winner and Gold Medal recipient for Vault and Beam, Emma Le (1st Floor 9.600), Skylar Leung (1st Beam - 9.500) and Keili Harmston for Vault. Notably the top Level 4 event winners of the competition accounting for all age groups and sessions includes Wildfire’s Gillian Burrows (Vault), Sara McLaughlin (Bars) and Erin Chen (Beam).

Leading our Level 3 effort, being the top scoring gymnast of the 366 total Level 3 athletes competing, was 10 year old All Around Champion Skyler Cazale (38.375, 1st Vault - 9.700, 1st Bars - 9.675). Skyler, including 9 year old Katie Bieger (38.000, 1st Bars - 9.750), 8 year old Kaytie Dobbert Madson (38.275, 1st Vault, 1st Bars - 9.650, 1st Floor - 9.650), Paige Hoffmann (37.925, 1st Beam - 9.700, 1st Floor - 9.725) and Maylee Chen (37.775, 1st Vault - 9.550, 1st Beam - 9.9.750) all finished out as Gold, All Around medal winners. Gold medal individual event winners also include: on Vault - Natallia San Jose, Bars - Ava Carpenter (9.650), on Floor - Adrienne Fleener (9.700). Adding further were Joelle Geffeney (1st Vault, 1st Bars - 9.725) and Ava-Malani Franco (1st Vault - 9.625, Beam - 9.625). Of these, Katie Bieger (Bars - 9.750) and Paige Hoffmann (Floor - 9.725) posted the highest score on their respective events at the competition regardless of level and age. Maylee Chen proved the highest scoring on Beam (9.750).
